'Athens County OH GMRS/FRS' is a radio community established to communicate within the neighborhoods of Athens County Ohio via GMRS and FRS radios. Communications may include general chat, radio checks, wellness checks, safety checks, and family and emergency communications. Use of FRS radios does not require a license, but is limited in coverage.
Full power 'GMRS' does require a $35.00 License, which is good for 10 years and covers your entire immediate family. No test is required for this license. Handheld GMRS radios are reasonable in cost, and can transmit radio-to-radio or through an extended range GMRS repeater.
